A new chapter

It's hard to believe that we've already reached a new year! My last post was over 6 months ago... and a crazy 6 months it's been!
Z turned 5 in August and we had the option to send her to kindergarten or let her have 1 more year of preschool, after much thought we decided that one more year of pre-k would be great, especially with a big move coming up. She is enjoying school and is beautiful and feisty as ever. She loves dresses and all things sparkly, and though she challenges me every day, I love her to pieces.
Ryler turned 8 in November and was baptized, I still can't figure out how my little boy has grown up so fast! The house, as suspected, went a month over schedule so Ryler was baptized in Farmington with 3 of his buddies in the ward. He kept telling me that he was going to do a cannonball into the font, which wouldn't have surprised me, but luckily he never followed through. Ryler is the tease in our house but charming nonetheless.
Aspen also had a birthday in November, she turned 3 and as 3-year-olds go, she is a very pleasant one... except for 2 weeks ago when she cut a big chunk of her hair off, and Zoey's too. She's lucky she has such a pretty face to offset the haircut!
Taevin turned 11 just a couple of weeks ago. My handsome boy is getting so big, he's in 5th grade and has been very excited about making new friends.
We moved into our new home just 2 days before Christmas which was a little a lot crazy. We set up a little tree and the kids decorated it with candy canes and bracelets, we were surrounded by boxes and without a fridge and washer & dryer, but we were excited to be in our home.
It was harder than I thought it would be to leave Farmington, not so much the tiny rental house that we had hated for 2 1/2 years, but the friends we had made. I'm not sure how we've been so lucky, but we've always been blessed with phenomenal neighbors. Meggin, Kenny and Ruby next door ended up being amazing friends that we'll never forget!
Everyone we've met here has been friendly and welcoming and I have a feeling we're going to love our little cul-de-sac. We are settling in and are for the most part, unpacked. It's been so much fun furnishing and decorating our new home. During the construction process I kept myself busy by refinishing furniture for the house and making quilts for the kids for Christmas.
Russ' brother Josh & his family moved here to Stansbury just a couple of months before us and it has been so nice being close to family. We're loving this new place and feel so blessed to be settling into the place we know we're going to stay!

Surprise!

Sometimes life throws you a curve ball, and it usually happens just when you think you've got things figured out.    Way back when I was praying about having a third child, the number 4 kept coming to me. I laughed and told God that He would need to send twins to get Russ to agree to that number, so part of me was a little apprehensive going into our first ultrasound with Z, but alas there was only one of her so I kind of forgot about the number and moved forward... until that day when the number came back.  Zoey wasn't even a year yet and the feeling came, there was one more. Russ did not feel the same but I used every bit of convincing power within myself, and after many arguments and discussions, he buckled. He gave me 3 months to get pregnant, if it didn't happen he would get his vasectomy. I gladly took what he was willing to give and trusted that God would send this baby that He had promised within the conditions Russ had reluctantly agr...

Gains and losses

2024 was a lot. Truthfully, I’m not even sure where to start, but it has been a whirlwind.   I suppose it would be best to start with my gains, most importantly I gained a daughter-in-law! In my last post, I mentioned Hayley, The love of Taevin‘s life. They spent the first year of Taevin‘s college experience in Cedar city together, But as their relationship progressed, and there was talk of marriage, they decided to come home and make those future plans a priority. It was fun having Taevin home from college, for the first month or two he was so full of gratitude for the luxuries of home, I guess being on your own for a while makes you realize how good you have it when mom is around. Anyway, they came home at the end of April and Taevin started planning his proposal. Russ and I took him to a local jeweler who was fantastic! Instead of just creating one ring, he made three just for Taevin! He wanted to make sure everything was perfect and that Hayley was getting exactly...

2017 Update

I think the older my kids get, the busier I get, and the less I remember it all. No joke, I'm sitting here scrolling through my calendar trying to figure what we've done all year. Thanks to old Facebook posts, I can give an update.   January- Taevin turned 12! My sweet little boy is growing up! 12 is a big number, he was ordained to the Aaronic priesthood on January 22nd by his dad, It was a fantastic experience. That week Russ & I took him to dinner then to the Bountiful temple to do baptisms for the dead for the first time, Ron had given us some family names to do, I loved being there with him and watching him help ancestors take their first step toward the gospel. The following week he passed the sacrament, he was so nervous but with plenty of help from his dad and some good friends he did great!    February- I turned 38. Nuff said. OK, there's actually more. My grandma went to Arizona to stay with my aunt DeAnn for about 3 weeks so while ...
